Ty Frankel

Ty Frankel is a passionate Employment Law and Class Action lawyer. He represents clients before federal and state courts and agencies in class action and employment law matters and has extensive experience litigating and providing counsel related to wage and hour, Paid Sick Time, wrongful discharge, retaliation, and discrimination claims. Ty also advises employees about employment and severance agreements.

Ty’s practice is primarily devoted to wage and hour litigation. He has litigated numerous national, regional, and state-wide class and collective actions and individual actions on behalf of employees seeking to recover unpaid overtime, minimum wage, and wages earned when off the clock. Ty has fought for employees against businesses of all sizes, ranging from local companies to publicly traded megacorporations.

Ty was included in the 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 editions of the Best Lawyers®: Ones to Watch in America for Labor and Employment Law. He is proud to have been nominated by his peers as a Super Lawyers’ Southwest Rising Star for his litigation work on behalf of employees. For years, Ty has served as a contributor for the American Bar Association Treatise on the Fair Labor Standards Act, which is the federal law mandating minimum wage and overtime for most workers in the United States. Ty has also been a contributor to the Arizona Republic regarding a wide array of employment law issues, and he is frequently asked to teach Continuing Legal Education courses about the laws regulating timely payment of wages, overtime, minimum wage, and Paid Sick Time in Arizona.

Ty also has experience counseling employers about employment law practices and litigation, including matters involving compensation, paid time off and Paid Sick Time, employment policies, hiring, separation from employment, workplace investigations, and discrimination charges.

Ty is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, serves on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Employment Lawyers Association, and serves on the Continuing Legal Education Committee for the State Bar of Arizona Labor and Employment Law Section.

Ty is active in community service. He serves on the Board of the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project, which is the only organization in Arizona that provides pro bono legal and social services to vulnerable immigrants in detention, many of whom are refugees. In addition to his time serving on the Board, Ty has also provided pro bono legal services on behalf of immigrants and refugees.

Ty earned his law degree from Boston College Law School, graduating cum laude. During law school, he was a LEND Fellow at the Boston Children’s Hospital, where he studied legal and public policy to advance the rights of children with developmental disabilities. He was also a Student Attorney at the Boston College Immigration and Asylum Project, representing clients before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service and Immigration Court.

Ty attended his first year of law school at Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans, where he earned positions on the Loyola Law Review and Moot Court Staff, as well as the Legal Excellence Award in Property and Torts. Ty earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College in political science and communications. During his undergraduate education, he was an Immigration Intern in the Senate office of the Honorable Edward M. Kennedy for several years.

Ty is admitted to practice law in Arizona and Massachusetts, including Arizona state and federal courts, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and Massachusetts state and federal courts.
